Today marks 40 years since the liberation of the Falkland Islands after the Argentine invasion of 1982.
The battle to win back the British South Atlantic territory lasted 74 days and cost the lives of 255 British servicemen. Nearly 800 were injured.
Hundreds of Argentinian troops were also killed. Events are being held today on the Islands and here in the UK to commemorate the end of the war.
GB News Home and Security Editor Mark White looks at the legacy of the conflict and the effect it had on those who lived on the islands at the time.
