CNET, the tech news outlet, has been scrubbing older articles off its site in an effort to improve its Google search ranking. According to reports, thousands of articles have been removed from the site since July. CNET staff unionized in May, citing the need for more control over how generative AI tools are used and how the site monetizes its work. Red Ventures, the company that owns CNET, has also applied a ruthless SEO strategy to other outlets including The Points Guy, Healthline, and Bankrate. Many of these sites have been pulled down because their traffic is not drawing a large enough audience. This comes after CNET's staff members voted to unionize in May on concerns about the use of artificial intelligence and the way the site makes money. #shorts #techshorts #technews #tech #technology #CNET #called content #Red Ventures
