yvonnes accident made me remember that i fell off of a horse many years ago, he began bucking and i now remember, i think hed been stung, but i didnt know then, we were in the woods and he began bucking, i stayed on for the first two bucks but i slid off by the third and landed on my coccyx. My friend who had years more experience than i had thought he was just being headstrong, and uncooperative and made me walk back to the ring get back up on snowball, and ride around and around and make him obey. His name was snowball, and i called him merry legs because he was a short fat horse like the pony in black beauty. Snowball only wanted to eat grass in the meadow and not be saddled for a ride. He was never very merry or sweet but he was a chubby cute boy. She taught me three things that day, you have three ways to communicate with a horse: your seat and heels, your voice, and the reins. She said their mouths were very sensitive and you used your reins with care. If your horse put his ears back, you talked so their eyes go forward. Ears back meant they were getting angry and possible up to mischief. She said stand in your stirrups and sit hard to remind them youre still on top. I have so much respect for horses, they are big and strong and with training love and care, they are such wonderful companions. There is a lot of hard work with a pet. I remind my friends if they want a dog, there is a great deal of cleaning up and care needed with an animal, they have no words only our ability to listen to them without words. Ive been watching farriers on youtube in china and those poor very neglected horses and mules break my heart. They way we treat out animals are a reflection of ourselves. Just thinking out loud. Pray for healing for yvonne and peace to all. Be kind to yourself and others, life is precious and short
