Orbea Rise is a lightweight bike but with a motor thats almost as powerful as the Full Fat ebikes! This first look video will take a quick spin around my local trails and then a walk around look at the Orbea Rise electric bike. Model is the Orbea Rise M10. DISCLAIMER: Orbea hired me to produce this video and a series of further videos including a full review of the bike coming soon. In no way did Orbea have any control or influence over the video, narrative or final content. The first time they have seen this video is the same time as you all. Check the bike here on Orbea's website: https://www.orbea.com/gb-en/ebikes/mountain/rise/ It has been specifically tuned by Orbea and the motor puts out a punchy 60Nm of torque. In my opinion its in a unique position in the market with its power to weight ratio. Cant wait to bring out the full review. @colingardiner53493 years ago Great review Rob. Can’t wait for the next installment. I’ve had my custom M10 for about 6 weeks and put 500 hard Km’s on it riding black natural enduro up here in the Grampian region. I’ve changed air shaft to 160mm, on the 36, put the supplied large volume spacer in the DPX2 and added cushcore F&R. The bike will handle anything and for natural rough trails it’s amazing. One thing you might mention is that your wheels, dropper and brakes are upgrades. Keep up the great content. ... 1

@claytonprice78333 years ago I have owned a Specialized Levo SL for 6 months and love it however now we have the Orbea Rise in stock I'm sold... plenty of power and love the weight of the M-Team. Mine arrives in May 8

@jimsmithmtb3 years ago Had an M10 since December, love it. Agree about the motor having a lot of punch. I rarely use boost and I have turned it down a couple of clicks as well in profile 2 2

@kelvynbettridge3 years ago Rob definitely want all the dirt on the Orbea. Not sold on the skim edition and feel like the FS wild is due for an update as it doesn’t look as refined as the Rise. Orbea custom builds are a winner in my book for sure. 3

@mattchay843 years ago Great video, I can see a few more brands coming out with more of these light weight 'semi skimmed' ebikes. They're sooo much fun!

@barnylondon3 years ago Mate soooooo glad you answered the calls and gave us the review .... I’m loving my rise ...... so fast and fun zooming off a burly built Levo ... for me it’s the perfect eeeeb letting me at 50 ride everyday without killing my knees but keeping my heart banging . I’ve upgraded to axs ..... so much better as the cable routing ain’t great and installed 180/200 galfer floating rotors. Many people have gone mullet and lengthen the fork to 160 and shock length ..... gives you the same bb height but 160 at both ends ...... . Keep up the great content.. 👍👍👍 ...

@sjaan73703 years ago That is a very nice looking bike indeed! 👍🏻 Definitely a glimpse of where we're heading in the near future. I'm guessing by 2025 most emtbs will be in the 15-17kg range with smaller, lighter new tech batteries and 65-75nm being the sweet spot for bikes that 'light'. Its all about the battery tech! Cheers ... 5

@mbgvyt12 years ago Just got an M20 for my wife who was previously on a heavy low-end hardtail. 1st ride out and she is "OMG I love this bike" with an ear-to-ear grin on. This is a game changer for her and she just wants to get out and ride and it allows us to go ride together, with me on my YT Izzo. I'm glad I was able to snag an in-stock bike quickly in Colorado as these are going to fly of the shelves. Nice review Rob, I love that giddy enthusiasm on your 1st ride out which almost exactly matches her 1st ride reaction. ...

@miathemalinoisgsdx13203 years ago What a stunning bike. In any other time frame Id have seriously considered getting one, but having deliberated about getting an ebike for more than 2 years now I dont think I could have waited another 10 to 15 months, which is why I have ended up buying an e Ransom 910 about 3 weeks ago that was in stock. I cant say as it was love at first sight (unlike my 2016 Genius LT 700 Tuned plus) but it is growing on me with every ride. ...

@davidstent7573 years ago Fantastic bike! Love my M20! Just make sure you check the pre-load cap on the left crank. There is an advisory on them. No thread lock means they are falling off. Can be resolved for free by your dealer or e-thirteen.

@jickmagger7323last year Got my Rise M10 2023 last week and my impression is as enthusiastic as yours. Perfect bike. Big smile on my face every time I'm riding it!
Main reason for buying is the lightweight design. My Cube Stereo Hybrid 140 SL is much too heavy compared to the Rise.
There's only one thing that I am missing badly: a small display with just speed, battery and drive mode that is automatically on, when the bike is switched on. I have a small Garmin right now that provides most of the relevant data and even transfers them to my komoot account, but the handling is a bit fiddly.

    @mattingirard93453 years ago Hi Rob,
First of all, congratulation for the great job you're doing fot your chanel.
My Rise M10 was supposed to arrive at the end of may. It's my first ebike.
It tried four different models. There were all great especilly the Levo
but for my kind of use, in my steep mountains and tecnical paths, I tought a lighter bike
    would suits me better
2 days ago my bike shop rang "you're bike is ready and is waiting for you !!"
    I couldn't believe it!
I've already done a few rides in "my mountain " ( Xoldokogaina, Euskal Herria)
It's light, beautifull, not silent but very quiet, powerfull witth a motor which gives a very natural feelling.
Exactly what i was looking for ( for the price, it can!)
I haven't recived .the exrenal batery yet ( I.m glad I got it for free. If not, it's 500€)
If you do an other review about the Rise, I will put in comment the maximum distance i can do with it...
The only " negative" thing about it, is that I haven't found the key yet to connect my edge 520 to the rstoolbox app.

@richieclarkie3 years ago Hi Rob, must say I do like the idea of a reasonably powerful lightweight e-bike. The Orbea does look nice, design wise. Hmmm, still like my Turbo levo for now... but.... :) Great job on your video again dude!
  • @
@phx46693 years ago Hi Rob, this is a great bike and glad it had you grinning riding it. One of the biggest complaint/question in the Rise forums is integration of Garmin to the RS. A step by step guide would be grateful. Orbea didn't make it easy. ...

@993mike3 years ago I've been a Specialized guy for 10 years in both road and mountain bikes, but I'm really tempted by this Orbea. Well priced, nice components & the right amount of power vs the Levo SL. Plus, you actually get to choose from a ton of color options - what a concept, eh Specialized? ... 2

@richardoates43353 years ago Hoping to get one of these. Such a great solution for intermediate ebike.
  • @
@Monkey_slapping_keys3 years ago These are where it's at surely. The Levo SL is a fantastic bike that feels like a normal bike, just could do with a little more pop. The full fats just have more power then you really need with the extra mass to lose the feel, been hoping for something like this. ... 1

@timvommeer96603 years ago Hey Rob! Brilliant first look! Thank you! Since you have ridden both, the ezesty and the rise, maybe you (or anyone in the comments) can give me a little tip: Light emtbs are the way to go for me (63kg).
I am deciding between an Orbea Rise M20 (basic spec) and a Lapierre Ezesty AM LTD fully specced including a second batterie - for the same price!
While the rise is the newer, more modern bike, I have the feeling, that the specced out ezesty is still the wiser choice. I have ridden the Fazua (black pepper) and really like it! EP8 is also extremely good and natural! But I haven’t had the chance, testing the RS version of the EP8. Sooo I am very thankful for any input ✌️ Thanks for all the great videos and keep on riding! ☺️

@shiftymuckers66273 years ago Good vid on this bike Rob, looks a beauty. Is it the best yet of the lightweight e-bikes? It’s certainly the one I’d be going for. Interested to know the range when you get to do some long term testing, also the cost of the spare battery, or range extender battery if there’s gonna be one. ... 3

@jenzybop3 years ago Great review Rob and delighted you were so impressed! I bought the Rise a few months without even testing it because I didn’t have the option. I tried and disliked the Wild just because of the weight of it and figured the Rise would be more nimble on the turns and it definitely is. My first ebike and it’s amazing! Best money I’ve ever spent. Doesn’t feel like an ebike at all. Very confidence inspiring. Uphill is so much fun now. The Rise is a frickin brilliant bike!
Haven’t been able to connect it to my phone though, am looking at getting a Garmin watch and not sure which watch. What’s the watch you show in the video?
    Thanks, Jenny.

@BOTG_Adventures3 years ago Took the Orbea Wild out for a spin at the weekend as my Haibike is not well. You should have a look at that bike, I loved it Rob, not as fast in the corners as the all mtn 7 but such a great bike that rolls over anything and climbs like a MTN goat. Almost.. almost.. as good as my all mtn 7 :) I am biased of course, I didn't miss the pedal strikes that's for sure. and the orange frame is stunning in the sun. Good vid as per usual. ...

@ErLo2023 years ago Hey Rob, Nice video again with a great looking bike. I love the colors.
I now ride a LEVO on XC trails. Most 95% in dynamic Eco mode (by BLevo). And thinking about changing to LEVO SL or Orbea Rise. I looked also at the Trek e-caliber, Lapierre eZesty and de Rotwild e375. But I’m not the youngest and not the lightest anymore. So a little bit anxious about motor- and batterypower for longer XC rides. The availabilty of a range extender is therefore a must.
The Rise has the most torque and the most batterypower with the range extender included. That said, it is closest to my Levo but with lesser weight and still a good workout.
I’ m curious about testing these bikes for myself to make a dissision. Also how does rider weight have influence these results?
I would love to your range test in these lightweight bikes.
Keep up, providing us with good videos.🤙

@davedyer73203 years ago Really like the idea and look of the Rise. This is the type of light weight e-bike I’m going to be spending my money on next. I’m a 27.5+ convert. Wondering if there’s room for 27.5 2.8 tire on the back. Cheers 1
  • @
@garnerjm13 years ago As usual top video,. Saying what you think rather than sitting on the “E Bike channel” fence, is refreshing. 1. Warranty, do Orbea act responsively, what is the turnaround time for key components, motor fail, etc. 2. All 29 er, no flip chip to ride mullet? 3. Am 174 cm tall, in between sizes Med and Large, how do I choose? Smaller for turns, or larger for stability. Would be good if Inside leg and torso were factored into the recs. Peeps could be long upper body short leg, or vice versa. Look forward to a updated review, you rock! ...

@chrismick74393 years ago Great Video! Question: Will Orbea offer a tune(software update) that will offer all available ep8 power (85N)? Other lightweights are now offering full power (e.g. Rotwild R e375). Orbea with 252Wh range extender in back pack, would offer just over 600Wh on a lightweight!! ... 1

@Jcool7213 years ago Thanks, Rob! Do you see cone nuts on the rear hub? I hope not because they will fail. Modern hubs like DT Swiss and Industry Nine are without any cone any nuts which makes them to be like bombproof design. Looks great but very expensive bike indeed! ...

@studio7tube3 years ago Hello Rob, thanks for the great video. I am thinking about an Orbea M20. I am 90kg, I ride with normal to conservative speeds and ride mostly trails in Luxemburg which has technical parts up and down, and flows sections as well. I do a few enduro trails in the summer and about 8 afternoons on downhill tracks in a bikepark in France. Would this be a suitable option or would it be better to buy a wild fs, rail 7, merida eone forty or eone sixty? I now have a Haibike fullseven 60 from 2018 (with 27.5 wheels, 3” tires and 70nm torque) as my first emtb. Before that I didn’t ride MTB. I would like a bike that is a bit easier to do a bunny hop or small hops/jumps. And also confidence inspiring.
What option would you in this case take: 140mm or 150mm fork? Or even getting another fork with 160mm?
Would you change to bigger rotors?

@C0okieMonstR3 years ago Hi Rob, thank's for nice preview,

@aRRy9093 years ago Rob. What about charging the bike when away for a weekend with no electric hook up? Can it be charged from a leisure battery through an inverter etc? I’ve seen some portable power stations but I’m guessing they can get really expensive for a powerful one. Can the range extender charge the battery if you’re not riding?
I’ve watched just about every video review on this bike and this is by far the most excited and upbeat one I’ve seen. Every analogue rider that’s against ebikes should watch this!
I’ve got an M10 on order. Roll on June! Really wanted the raw carbon as well but couldn’t wait till the end of the year!

@lovejoyantiques39613 years ago Had mine for a few months now and absolutely love it! If I’m being critical the charge port cover feels a bit flimsy so would be good to know if Orbea will be stocking spares. Also would’ve been good if Shimano made an Apple Watch app for e-tube ride (but ST Ride has now beaten them to this). ... 1

@johnchandler13 years ago That’s one stealthy, sexy bike. Of course the question everyone asks themselves is this or Levo sl. I know here is Vienna Specialised just have the electric bike community so dominated. Everyone rides a Levo or Levo SL. Honestly, everyone. How are Orbea proposing to break the Specialized monopoly? Thanks Rob, looking forward to in depth review once you get a bit more time on it. ... 1
  • @
@jimg99423 years ago The moons were in alignment and I got lucky that a local bike shop had a M10 medium in stock! Had to pay $200 over msrp - ouch (they said for assembly, set up and they would not budge), which was difficult but glad I did because this bike is obviously hard to find. All I can say is wow! The bike is extra lightweight feeling and powerful and the battery lasts plenty long. I have ordered the shimano em800 display because I want to manage my battery level long before I reach 25% and the red light comes on. Also, I want easy access to assist level, miles per trip and total miles on bike. My ride buddies have no interest in waiting while I connect my iPhone to the bike to get this data, they just take off. In my opinion, for a somewhat expensive bike, Orbea needs to make the steps display a standard feature. But, the bike comes with numerous components that are better than other manufactures in the same price range, like suspension, wheels, and carbon handlebars so it is a good value! ...

  • @
@garnerjm13 years ago With Tunbridge Wells generous help I demo’d this M10 this week. Very surprised as said it was stealthily quiet, to hear it loud in comparison to my Brose 2018 Levo. Increasing cadence delivered the pop of power, but increased the decibels and pitch to a higher level. Personally I found this too high and loud. A friend riding my Levo beside me thought it sounded like an old dynamo attachment as he could hear it clearly too, way above the older brose motor, right alongside.
Banging noise on downhill still very much there, maybe you could not hear it in the future, a bit like living next to a train track and not hearing trains...
Dongle remote detached after a fast lumpy downhill and was fiddly to reconnect. Specs of fox kashima and shimano were top notch and felt really good. Loved the playfullness of the reduced weight. Just couldn’t leap into a 7k purchase because of the motor noises. Again thanks to friendly approachable guys in a small independent store who would have been there for supporting warranties.
